Epiphany!

So I got an idea for my installation - FINALLY! There are 5 sheets of plexiglass, hung from the ceiling to mock the glass store front. I thought this might be the cheapest and most ideal way to make an enclosed store yet still display what's inside. I looked up plexiglass, which is sold right here at Home Depot. For a 3' x 6' piece of plexi, it's only 44.87!! That's not as bad as I thought. $224.35 in total. My school refund is a little of $600, so I still have room for printing! I guess the next step for that would be to talk to Fred about how to hang it??

Then Sara said we can mock up a store sign out of foam core which will clearly be hung as well. This will all give me a better idea on how to design my marketing!

More Identity

So apparently, I'm on a roll today!!! Here's a business card idea...you can see the direction I'm going with the identity now to add the trendy side of the boutique. Let me know what you think about this too!! :) The small text on the front is the website.

Also, I managed to draw up some letterhead. I thought about doing a full color back as shown, but what do you think? I thought that doing that might add the "expensive" taste to it that I'm going for. Also please note that it would be printed on paper that was off-white to match the lightest color in the branding colors shown below.

Give me your input!! Here's the logo and color options for my store:

Winter Break

Well...school starts Monday, and of course everyone assumes they're going to get stuff done on their project during the winter break. Well...I know I didn't. I don't know if everyone else did, but yea...Jessica...not so much. I was working 40 hours weeks over the holiday, stressed out about everything going on in my life, and by the time I was home I was exhausted and didn't feel like working on much of anything. So I'd just watch TV or read a book then pass out. I have even put off work for my freelancing clients (not too bad though). I guess I just really needed a break.

So to make sure I don't let life get in the way of my capstone anymore, I made a game plan:

1. Quit my job! Beth I know you are going to be really excited reading this!! My last day as the part-time manager at Charlotte Russe is Saturday, Jan. 16th!!!!! I'm really excited about it. It was quite liberating to turn in my two-weeks. I know I have been stretching myself too thin, and I really need to focus this last semester so I can graduate with the honors I deserve and feeling good about myself. I don't need the grades from last semester ever again!

2. Make a schedule. I have made a daily schedule for myself since I'm going to have so much free time now (I only have class on Tuesday and Thursdays!!). The schedule is not too planned (no, I didn't plan bathroom breaks or Facebook time), but it does mark out time for me to specifically work on this project and other projects.

3. Quit talking to my "ex" boyfriend. Sounds stupid, I know. But I don't need the additional stress while I'm trying to finish this and graduate. If he wants to come back around and make things right, he can do it. But in the mean time, I'm not playing his roller coaster games. So I quit talking to him until he can figure his crap out! I don't even know if he is my ex. Stupid!

4. Make project deadlines. Today, I am going to sit down and make some project goals and deadlines for this capstone. Real ones! Ones I have to follow!! I refuse to get further behind than I already am.

So that is the condensed version of my game plan. I'll get my deadlines/goals posted when I can. It's a new year and a fresh start! Here's to 2010!!!

120 days until graduation!
